My dad was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in August 2020. We heard the news right after I enlisted into the California Army National Guard. This diagnostic marked his second bout with cancer.
The first battle happened in 2018. No one is ever prepared to discover that a loved one has cancer. I was shaken. In dismay, I met with a friend, a pastor.
